Bargaining in Jerusalem stores!
Hey, try it, many do let you bargain, others don‘t. Worse case scenario is they say no. Trust your Israeli friend. People DO bargain all over the place! I remember years ago being in a clothing store, long gone, on Ben-Yehuda Street. I never would have thought of bargaining and then I overhead someone doing so in Hebrew. I had been talking English, but you better believe I did bargain and I did get a better price.
BTW if you are looking for Israeli made gifts my favorite store on 8 Rivlin Street is GANS. They have a wide range of items, all Israeli made and they will print out info on each artist. They, btw, do NOT bargain BUT I have looked and looked and looked at other stores and their prices without bargaining are the best. - They are also registered to enable VAT refund.
